About Eleanor
I'm an experimental physicist - my specialism is in cryogenic instrumentation in support of fundamental physics experiments. My PhD thesis is on the topic of thermal noise in optical coatings as used in gravitational wave detectors, which I worked on as a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. After my PhD, I worked on a project attempting to test the inverse square law of gravity at very small separations.
I'm also interested in the behaviour of thin films under stress and have done work testing various finite element and analytical models against actual assemblies. I enjoy assembling delicate or small structures and developing hands-on skills in the lab, whether it's a new film deposition technique, a clever sample cleaning method or using a new optical instrument.
I'm currently living in the Netherlands, and I'm looking for new job opportunities. Why not take a look at my CV?
